Hello, I'm Lisa Richardson
M.A, Registered Psychotherapist, C.C.C

Why become a Psychotherapist?

From an early age, I’ve been curious about what shapes us into who we are. I found myself wondering why people differ so deeply, and how our early relationships and life experiences influence the way we move through the world as adults. This curiosity naturally led me to reflect on my own upbringing, as well as the experiences of those around me, and how these early dynamics continue to impact our sense of self, our relationships, and our emotional lives.

While our past experiences can shape us, they do not have to define us. I became deeply interested in understanding how people can move beyond old patterns, develop greater self-awareness, and live in ways that feel more authentic and fulfilling. At the core of my work is the belief that we all share a fundamental need for connection, understanding, and support—and through psychotherapy, I am honoured to offer a space where that can be experienced.

What is my approach to therapy?

I am trained in the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), a trauma- and attachment-informed approach to psychotherapy. In my work, I integrate psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and somatic-based interventions, depending on each client’s goals and presenting concerns. This integrative approach allows the therapy to be tailored to the individual, supporting increased self-awareness and emotional understanding.
I aim to provide a supportive and respectful therapeutic environment where clients can explore their experiences safely and at their own pace.
